Detailed Description
Specifications
Now with X-TREME Black Thermal Coating
This pipe does what a performance downpipe should, without costing an arm and a leg. It's fabricated by a major racing exhaust manufacturer. It's designed to get the heat away from the turbo, not rust or crack, and go under your car out of sight. It is not meant to be a piece of art...hence the 'ugly' The Ugly comes with 3 pieces; a downpipe, a center extension, and an adapter. Adding a cat would simply be a matter of cutting up the center extension and welding (or double band vibrant clamping) the ball ends to the cat. Features include: All manufacturers of 2.5" downpipes for the ALH and BEW engined TDIs struggle with the orientation of the turbine outlet and flange design. This pipe features a slightly ovalized primary and very short 2.25" section immediately (3/8" long) following the ~2" turbine outlet. This allows sufficient clearance at the upper two mounting studs. This downpipe should be purchased by the mechanically inclined who can appreciate a product that gets the job done. This pipe does not come equipped with an oxygen sensor bung for the BEW engine. An 02 bung can be added for $25--- The new production run of Ugly Downpipes now have an exclusive X-TREME Coating.

Essentially, it is a black thermal coating system. This top of the line coating is good to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit Each downpipe will receive an initial heat cure, but in order to give a secondary cure to the downpipe : Please use a 10 min start up, and 10 min cool down, followed by a 20 min start up, and 20 min cool down (no load). We will be include these instructions in the kits. Advantages of Coating your Exhaust Parts - Helps prevent heat transfer from engine exhaust systems, increase engine performance, improve engine compartment safety and prevent heat soak - Coatings on high-temperature exhaust manifolds and headers have been shown to increase engine performance. - Increases power by insulating the exhaust system, keeping the exhaust heat in the tubing, and typically reducing under-hood temperature by 30ºF or more. - Contributes to faster exhaust flow and better cylinder scavenging. All of this adds up to a higher density fuel/air charge and more horsepower. - Helps extend the service life of your components by reducing thermal fatigue and fighting corrosion. - Parts cool off quicker for easier adjustments and teardown. Please note: the current photo does not show the downpipe with the black thermal coating E-mail a friend about this item. |
