This hybrid combines the exhaust side from a vnt-17 turbo with the 52mm compressor and housing from a vnt-22 to create a formidable upgrade turbo popularly known as a 17/22 hybrid.
This turbo will bolt up to a stock ALH engine with minimal adaptation.
On an otherwise stock car; fitment requires either stretching the compressor outlet hose over the compressor outlet, or replacing the compressor outlet hose with the equivalent BEW (PD100) compressor outlet hose and trimming it to fit. On the turbo inlet side, a BEW turbo inlet pipe boot is necessary to connect the turbo inlet pipe to the turbo inlet.
This turbo is composed entirely of new components, and is assembled by Garrett.
A note to early ALH owners: This turbo shares the mounting system of the latest version of the VNT 15. If your car was produced before mid-2001, the turbo support bracket, oil return line, and oil return line block fitting will have to be replaced with the updated version of these parts. If your ALH was produced after mid-2001, the oil piping and turbo bracket are unchanged. We offer a retrofit kit to help in this endeavor.
This turbo uses the standard VNT actuator which does not utilize the vane position sensor found on the BEWs. If you have a BEW, please order the BEW version.
