 -Hammerhead Turbo (1852) SKU: hammerhead
Also known as the "Super Stealth (SS)1852V" or 18/22 hybrid, this is the most versatile and popular version of our exclusive "easy install" hybrid turbo series. (We call it an "18", but this turbo uses the same exhaust side as our Hammer and Hammerhead plus turbos, which is bigger than a vnt-20!)
By far, the greatest barrier to performance with the vnt-style turbos is the restrictive exhaust turbine and vnt control vane areas. This is especially true of the VNT-17 based hybrid turbos currently on the marklet. Our proprietary machining process carefully opens up this hot-side "choke point". We then fit an exclusive, specially manufactured for us, "KERMA only" exhaust turbine, that flows better than any "drop-in" type turbo available anywhere! The result is amazingly low EGT and excellent efficiency for a drop-in replacement turbo.
With its 52mm compressor and free-flowing exhaust turbine, The HAMMERHEAD will support 200 hp with the correct accompanying mods, with significantly lower EGT than a "straight" vnt-17 or vnt-17 based hybrids. It installs like a stock turbo, looks like a stock turbo, boost like a vnt-20 or vnt-22, and spools very quickly, for awesome low-end and mid-range response! No adapters or re-clocking, just bolt it in for a no-hassle installation.
This turbo gives all of the benefits of a high performance turbo while keeping a very straightforward installation and a factory profile.
All of our upgrade turbos now include a free drilling/tapping for an EGT bung, and all hardware needed for a standard installation!
PD100 (BEW) owners can select the "smart" actuator upgrade for use with these newer cars.
