The Next Generation Turbocharger for ALH/BEW engine is here!! This kerma/borgwarner version 2 Series7 has been modified and adjusted for peak performance from our kerma engineers. We are currently supporting 156whp and 320+ torque with this turbo on our 150hp kits (Diesel Power Magazine). This turbo spools about 300 to 400rpms which is faster(sooner) than the Garret VNT17 and will support up to 180whp.
This Turbo will fit ALH and BEW engine code. The ALH will need an Adapter to fit the SMIC plumbing and the BEW will need an EGR pipe to be truly plug and play. Updated Tuning will be needed on the BEW so that the check engine light does not come on. New oil supply line is always recommended.
The Kerma S7 is brand new from Borg Warner and is modified and adjusted by kermatdi to perform correctly with the ALH/ BEW engine with our tuning. (not to be associated with other Borg Warners with similar part numbers ((results will not be the same)). There is no core deposit, Turbo Install kit and now a Free EGT Drill and Tap!
Combine our Genuine Bosio nozzles, our Injector Calibration or Hot Swap program, chip tuning or Q Loader, and on a 5 speed transmission add the stronger Southbend clutch to create a great package. We even have a 150 HP Package that's a great combination.... or you can build the car in steps.
This turbo can ship with our exclusive, plug and play, billet aluminum, compressor outlet adapter; making this virtually a PnP upgrade for the ALH. We offer the adapter in three diameters; 1.25" (OD), 1.75" (OD) or 2" (OD). We normally ship the 1 1/4" adapter, since this is the correct size for the stock hose. If you have our Upgraded FMIC plumbing you will need to go with the 2" version, please indicate above. The new 1.75" adapter is for our upgraded SMIC plumbing kit
We Highly Recommend getting our Stainless Steel Oil Braided Supply Line as well. The stock ones are rigid and can break during removal or installation and the flexibility of the braided line makes for an easy installation.
This turbo is brand new from Borg Warner, not rebuilt and includes our extensive Turbo Installation Kit. (a $48 value). There is no core deposit.
A note to early ALH owners: This turbo requires the same support bracket and oil return line as the latest version of the VNT-15. If your car was produced before mid-2001, the turbo support bracket, oil return line, and oil return line block fitting will have to be replaced with the updated version of these parts. We do sell a retrofit kit that will help in this endeavor. If your ALH was produced after mid-2001, this is a direct install.
When installing the turbo in a BEW engine, the S7 will need to be reclocked to hook up properly to the stock BEW plumbing. We also recommend going with Kerma Tuning to remove any CEL caused by the lack of sensor on the actuator and to get the full capabilities out of the turbo.
I have had this Turbo on my MK4 jetta for about 2 years and 40K I liked it so much i decided to use it on my ALH swap thats going into a MK1 caddy! The turbo is super smooth and spools instantly! I used the DLC764 nozzles and a Kerma tune on both builds and loved every minute it! This turbo will be a "go to" for any ALH cars I own in the future! Foster_Tdi on 3rd Oct 2017
Ive had this turbo for about two weeks now it is great with charlies tuning its amazing what 1mm more can do instant spool times tons of power i can get from 40mph to 70mph in under 3 seconds just a little more $$ than stock so why not and it gets rid of the smart accuator and it now runs on vacume which is nice NO MORE OVERBOOST CODES and dont be cheap get the stainless braided oil feed line you might have to break the old one to get it off anyways thanks kerma you guys ROCK clint on 1st Apr 2017
Chris was right: I replaced my old KP39 at 200k miles that was leaking air/oil with this one at Chris' recommendation (decided against trying to rebuild my old turbo). My BEW is smoother now and will be fully ready for a good Kerma tune when the time is right. As it is now I felt plenty of power leftover while towing a utility trailer on the highway. Whistle is a little more pronounced as well. Very happy to have a car that works great now while I slowly build the car. If you're reading this, Chris, thanks man. David on 27th Feb 2017
My stock turbo developed a massive leak and when looking for a replacement, this seemed to fit the bill, and came in at the same price. I'm so glad I went with this one - the spool up happens much faster than the kp39, it feels stronger, and the turbo whistles in a nice way too.
Just comparing the build quality of the stock turbo vs the S7, it seems like a finer casting, more pricse billet machining, etc. The tube design looks less restrictive, too, with smoother curves. Maybe I say that because the power starts to comes on (really? can it be?) at 1600rpm
I didn't go with a tune or even the CEL delete code for this, but am happy to know that it can support a full HP upgrade later. Unknown on 26th Feb 2017
Just took delivery of this and unfortunately it will be a while before I can install and give a true review. I am looking forward to working with Charlie again and getting an updated tune for this turbo to work with all the other Kerma upgrades I've done since our last talk in 2013. I can say that shipping was just as promised and arrived un-damaged in a timely manner.

My original KP39 self destructed at 249,000 miles. I bought this turbo as its replacement and it is awesome. It spools faster then the original and makes more torque to boot. I was a little hesitant on buying the S7 due to the lack of electronic VNT control. Trust me when i say this, the engine does not know the difference. The tune supplied by charlie is spot on, No check engine lights at all from the deleted VNT. Excellent parts and service from KERMA, they are a class act! Chuck Ghosio on 19th Aug 2016
I absolutely love this turbo! With Kerma’s tuning, and their exhaust, this engine really comes alive at about 1800 rpm’s; it’s stronger at lower rpm’s as well, but you can really feel it start to pull at 1800. My fuel economy on my daily compute resulted in a 5 mpg improvement (I was getting 35 mpg, the first check after install showed 40 mpg). I checked the fuel economy again after a short road trip (almost 200 miles) and this setup yielded a 2+ mpg improvement at highway speeds; the same trip previously would get 44 mpg, it yielded 46 with this setup (it’s not a true highway mileage, there are about eight towns I drive through with several open stretches between with speeds of 75mph). I have an ’04 with BEW engine code. I have over 700 miles on this new turbo so far, and it brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. Jesse on 11th Feb 2016
